Code of professional ethics

    Seven commitments every member and credential holder makes.

    The code guides the professional and personal conduct of ADaSci members and certification holders. Breaching it can lead to investigation and disciplinary action.

    01 · The principles

    Members and ADaSci certification holders shall:

    1. Uphold standards

      Support and encourage compliance with standards for governing AI systems, data science practice and emerging technology, including responsible AI, model governance and data ethics.

    2. Act with integrity

      Perform duties with objectivity, due diligence and professional care, in line with professional standards and best practice in AI and data science.

    3. Serve stakeholders ethically

      Serve stakeholders lawfully, keep high standards of conduct and character, and never discredit the profession or ADaSci.

    4. Protect privacy and confidentiality

      Keep information obtained in professional work private unless the law requires disclosure, and never use it for personal benefit.

    5. Maintain competency

      Keep competency current, and take on only work that can reasonably be completed with the skills, knowledge and competence you have.

    6. Ensure transparency

      Report the results of work to the right people, including every significant fact that would otherwise distort the results or the understanding of model outcomes.

    7. Advance education

      Support stakeholders’ understanding of AI governance, data ethics, responsible AI and the societal impact of data-driven technology.

    8. If the code is breached

      Failure to comply can lead to an investigation of a member's or holder's conduct and, ultimately, to disciplinary measures.

    02 · Complaint procedure

    Seen a breach? Five steps, handled in confidence.

      Document it

      Record what you saw, with relevant details and evidence.

    2. 2

      Submit in writing

      Send a written complaint through the contact form or by email.

    3. 3

      Confidential review

      The Ethics Committee reviews the complaint in confidence.

    4. 4

      Right of reply

      The member is notified and given the chance to respond.

      Determination

      A decision is made, with corrective action where warranted.
